Partner Institutions

Global academic inequality limits students with incredible potential; thus, Tap connects with academic institutions on local and international levels. We provide international funding for infrastructural and academic needs, host volunteer trips, and present educational insights from our partner institutions. Since 2021, our mission has been carried out by our diligent student leaders, who encourage youth to take action and learn more about our world, as well as our hardworking members.

In the Fall of 2021, Tiantian Yang, the Tap Initiative's Founder and Executive Director, connected with Fa Yun Chan to assist them with renovating their academic center. To share her love for humanity, Tiantian assembled a group of students and hosted the very first Tap trip to Fa Yun Chan's academic center. Every month, a designated Tap chapter hosts a trip to FYC, inviting all our chapters and members to participate in clearing land for new buildings, converting unused rooms into classrooms, and repurposing donated furniture. Volunteer support and donations are essential for the operation of many academic institutions, as seen by our hands-on work. This thesis has driven the Tap Directors' Team to connect with other institutions, in hopes to best help fellow students. Join us as a volunteer, and we hope to see you at our next trip to FYC!

In the Spring of 2024, the Tap Initiative connected with CCDO to assist the 26 schools, 13 preschools, and their students from rural Cambodia, sharing the same mission of helping children attend school with the necessary educational tools.

Hosting a panel between our Tap Chapters and the CCDO Team, we concluded that the best initiatives we could implement to help our international partner were to fundraise and share the stories of their organization and students. In 2025, The Tap Initiative was named a CCDO ambassador, and our Tap chapters continue to host local fundraisers and speak at public events to share our support for fellow students. Help us support CCDO by joining our team or donating to our GoFundMe!

In the Spring of 2024, the Tap Initiative connected with TVNAC to assist their institution with sharing their Native American book collection with nearby schools and for public access. Every month, a designated Tap chapter hosts a trip to TVNAC, inviting all our chapters and members to participate in organizing books and assisting in teaching cultural crafts. Join us as a volunteer, and we hope to see you at our next trip to TVNAC!

In the Spring of 2023, VMC connected with the Tap Initiative, asking for assistance with their institution. Having seen our work at Fa Yun Chan's academic center, VMC shared with us their story: following the passing of key faculty, their institution in Nepal needed financial support to maintain infrastructure and provide materials for their students' learning.  In the winter of 2023, the Tap Directors' Team raised enough funding to provide a water filter for clean water access and purchase books and food for the students. VMC remains in contact with Tap, sharing pictures of their students continuing their studies.
